What-e're Thou Art, A Mirror Makeover

Working, working, working, and never done. This is another project for the girls' room.

I found this mirror for FREE on craigslist last year. It came off of a dresser so I took off the posts that held it the dresser, added some ribbons to the back and tied to to the outside of the crib. As you can see my Daughter loves making faces at herself in the mirror.  I have no idea what that is on the top but I'm sure a bottle was involved.

I love the idea that it wraps around, it kind of reminds me of a runway look. As much as I liked the idea, it wouldn't fit in the room now while it was all unfolded.

So I took the mirrors out. This is the back so you can see what I was talking about with the ribbon.

Then I took the two side mirrors off.

I sanded a little and then painted it with some left over paint from my entryway.

Then I went to my SCAL 2 software and cut out one of my favorite quotes with my Cricut. One day I will have one of the 12x12 versions but for now I just have the 6x12.

I cut it out and applied it.

Then I added some of these screw hooks that I found at Walmart and tada!

Before the reveal here's a reminder of what it looked like before:

I hung it up with 4 screws and now the girls have a place for all of their dress up stuff.

These are a couple of shots I took with my new favorite setting on the hub's camera.

I think it looks super adorable with my craigslist chair. It has become a favorite spot for us to read books and play.

And there you have it. Total cost was about $3 for the screws and I didn't even use 1/4th of the package! Sweet.

  3. love it. I also want to know what you are going to do with the rest of the mirror. Maybe you should make a couple more and sell them. It's very cute.

  4. Thanks everyone, I am kind of undecided as to what to make out of the left over two pieces. I am thinking that I will make them to go together as a pair for my dining area. Maybe as a chalk board calender and menu?
